National Investigation Agency (NIA) is carrying out raids at six locations in Punjab in connection with the abduction of former Gurdaspur Superintendent of Police Salwinder Singh.

NIA teams are searching four locations in Gurdaspur and two locations in Amritsar.

These locations are associated with Salwinder Singh and his two companion in the car on December 31st night. Mr Singh, has already been questioned by NIA teams.

Uttar Pradesh: Blanket ban on polythene bags will come into effect today.

India has emerged as one of the five most promising markets for businesses globally.

This was disclosed in an annual global CEO survey by consultancy giant PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) released at World Economic Forum meeting in Davos yesterday.

It said India, which has continued to do well under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pro-business government, is now among CEOs’ five most promising overseas markets.

The survey covered 1,409 CEOs spread across 83 countries.

The Centre has issued closure orders to 150 grossly polluting industrial units for not installing Online Continuous Effluent Monitoring System (OCEMS) along River Ganga.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi yesterday, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said, of the 764 polluting industries, 514 have already installed the monitoring system while 94 are in the process.

He said, the industrial pollution has significantly come down in the river due to the installation of the monitoring system.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has slammed  Facebook for its ‪#‎FreeBasics‬ platform, as a crudely majoritarian and orchestrated opinion poll.

In a letter written to facebook, the Telecom Authority said the campaign by Facebook to defend its free Internet platform Free Basics in India is wholly misplaced.

The regulator said Facebook is misleading its users with its Save Free Basics campaign and the responses sent by it were not relevant to the questions pose
